ISABELLA REID DOB 1888 OR 1889
Isabella Reid is the daughter of Robert John Reid and Mary Reid (MC McNicol). She appears in the 1901 and 19011 census at Burnbank, Hamilton. Her sister was Mary Thorrburn, brother Wiliam McNicol and another brother Robrt John Reid Jnr. I was wondering if she had a second name as ell but cannot find it. Can anyone help me to track a copy of the birth records. I think she died in 1960 aged 60 in M....well.

Hi jjlmary312,
The 1911 census tells you that Isabella was born in Alexandria, Dumbartonshire. Alexandria was in the registration district of Bonhill. Isabella's age of 22 on the census, leads you to a probable birth year of 1888-1889. A search for the birth based on Bonhill, 1888-1889 leads to two results. One is the one that you are seeking.
The information from that birth certificate is enough to help you find her death certificate. The information that you had regarding her death was partly right. She died aged 60 in Motherwell. Given her birth year, you can calculate that her death year was not 1960. The other piece of information that you should have is that Motherwell was in the registration district of Dalziel. There is also an RCE certificate appended to her death certificate. That can be viewed for an extra 2 credits.
The information on her death certificate gives her husband's name. From that, their marriage certificate can be found.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi jjlmary312
An RCE is a Register of Corrected Entries.
It is an addition to a certificate when there is an error in the original or when the Procurator Fiscal determines that more information is required on a death certificate.
On SP if you get a DC with with an RCE notatation in the left column you can download that section for a small amount extra from SP. It may only give a small amount of further information, or will confirm the cause of death.
