Missing people!

I have my great grandfather's marriage certificate. He was married in Scotland, though born in Ireland, and his parents are named on the marriage certificate. I have searched births, deaths, marriages in both Ireland and Scotland to find some information about them, but all roads have led to brick walls. Any advice would be very welcome.
