Hello all
I was delighted to access a new and often looked for branch of my tree. I wonder how many apprentice joiners in the Borders became a Free Church Missionary/minister? That was a new one.
Anyway, on finding Annie Tait BAIRD ms MILNE's death cert. I find that she died of strychnine poisoning 1918 at Dasher Farm, Kippen aged 59. There is something written after the words "strychnine poisoning" which I can't decipher and I have tried to put the doc. in the Gallery but am requested to make up an album for "Coppermine". This doesn't seem to be in Lesley's instructions so maybe some kind person could help by telling me what to do and then upload the link to this message once I have done the deed?
Regards
Lorna

Hi Lorna,
See below the part of the certificate. I read it as:

See below the part of the certificate. I read it as:
- Strychninic Poisoning
— an Overdose of Easton's Syrup
(Inspected the body)
as certified by
Duncan MacDiarmid
M.B.C.M.
Kippen
from http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictio ... on's+syrup
- Easton's syrup
an antique proprietary medicine from the era of empirical remedies and nonspecific stimulants. Contains strychnine (renowned as a stimulant), iron phosphate (listed as a brain food) and quinine (appetite and general stimulant). Available also as tablets.

Re: Annie Baird - Strychnine poisoning
Thank you very much Andrew. I suppose I was beavering away too late last night and despite having printed out a copy of the death cert never noticed that there was an RCE. Over-excited too I guess, it seems a while since I had ancestors popping out at me one after the other. Lovely.
I take it the gallery is being awkward at the moment or is it just me?
Regards

Hi Lorna
Best wishes
Lesley
The gallery is probably behaving fine - the instructions you read are for the previous version of the gallery, so are most likely of limited use!! An update is required.I take it the gallery is being awkward at the moment or is it just me?
Best wishes
Lesley
