He married Isabella A B Reid on 05 07 1915 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. She died in Motherwell on 20 09 1948 aged 60. She would be my great aunt. Could anyone provide me with the death detail for Samuel Marchban Brown and his details of birth. He died before she did. I cannot tell you his place of birth or place of death. His dads name wasThomas (Brunswick) Brown and the mother was Jane ?. They had both died when they married in 1915. I am desperate for help as I have no close relatives to ask.

You can view his death certificate on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk on a pay per view basis. There is only one death for a Samuel Marchban Brown, so you should find him very easily. As you have probably guessed, the middle name is cut short - all given names on ScotlandsPeople are truncated at 15 letters (including any spaces).

• Surname = Brown
• Given name = Samuel Marchban

No need for anything else. This will give only one result.

If they were coal miners then I think this is Samuel and family in 1891 at Bothwell.

John Brown 6

Jane is on her own with the boys in 1901 at Hamilton. That census transcribed at Ancestry says she was born at Crawfordjohn and Samuel at Lesmahagow.
