Is there a list somewhere of register districts in Scotland? I have been tracing a family that lived in Kinning Park - Glasgow - over many years but after 1906 - Kinning Park seems to disappear from the BMD records. What would have replaced it?
thanks
Trish

Re: Districts
On ScotlandsPeople there's a "Help with Searching" and under that you can find a list of registration districts.
Someone with more knowledge than me can probably give you a more direct answer!
Best wishes,
Meg

Re: Districts
Hi Trish,
See http://www.talkingscot.com/rds/city-rds-glas.htm
Somebody who knows Glasgow better than I do could maybe suggest the district(s) that Kinning Park may have become part of from 1907.
All the best,
AndrewP

Re: Districts
Thank you for all the links - it seems the districts changed a few times from 1906 to 1965 when they all merged into Glasgow. I've looked at Andrew's list and the list of all RDs post 1855 but cannot find the detail of the changes from 1906. I did, however find via SP help a PDF street index for the 1911 census, which includes RD numbers - (just took quite awhile to download) - so I'll try that against some of the addresses I have from dates before 1906 and should be able to use Andrew's list to check the RD numbers (or something like that!)
I hadn't realized until checking the replies that they all merged to Glasgow in 1965 - that should be the end of my searching - the names are too frequent to search without the district breakdown
thanks again
Trish

Do you have any street names?
Some streets came under Pollokshields and some Tradeston or maybe Plantation.

Annette

Re: Districts
Near the front of Glasgow Post Office Directories there are lists of streets and their Registration District. Here’s the start of 1911-12. http://archive.org/stream/postofficeann ... 2/mode/2up

Re: Districts
Try under Pollokshields ... I've had this discussion with Scotlands People before and found my Kinning Park lot under Pollokshields

Re: Districts
Thanks everyone - I checked a couple of streets against the 1911 census street index & like Annette & Falkyrn came up with Pollokshields. I also found a couple of addresses pointing directly to Plantation - so I'll concentrate on those two districts.
34 Keyden St 644-18 Pollokshields
48 Maclean St 646 Plantation - this one was a bit strange - double checking it was a Govan address from 1881
3 Vermont street 644-18 Pollokshields
