Hi,
I am making slow progress with my search for any living descendants from the Bell family in Troon and have recently discovered some names on the birth entries which may be connected to me. The problem is that on Scotlands People there are no images of the entries so I am unable to find anything else other than the same, sex and place of birth.
Anyone know a way where I can find more information on these entries to confirm they are connected or just random people with the same name?
I dont want to go to the expense of ordering certificates etc if they turn out to be a bogus lead.
The entries I am searching confirmation for are as follows
Andrew Bell Born 1914 in Ayrshire
Mary Bell Born <after 1913>
Sarah Bell Born <after 1913>
Joseph Bell Born <after 1913>
I am trying to see if they are the children of Andrew Bell and Susan Gibbons who lived at both 17 Harbour Road and various address on Back Temple Hill.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get me started please?
Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott
As some of the people you mentioned may still be alive (see our Essential Reading section here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6601) I have edited your post to reflect our TS guidelines on mentioning details of possibly living people. If anyone knows these people and is able to help Scott, please communicate via PM rahter than posting personal details online.
As far as I am aware, the only way for you to verify births which are less than 100 years old is to either order the certificates, take a trip to Edinburgh yourself or enlist the help of someone who is going to Edinburgh or The Mitchell Library in Glasgow on a research trip, or pay a researcher. We cannot help with finding living relatives on forum.
Best wishes
Lesley

I think what Lesley is saying is, this and other genealogical forums, do not publicly publish details other than HISTORIC ones, so as to comply with the privacy laws, but that does not stop us helping via PRIVATE MESSAGES where our local knowledge, will assist with finding the living. Though I do not specialize in the living, and joined this forum to look for tips to get to my roots in Scotland pre 1800, I have been able, on a number of occasions, to assist with renewing long lost NZ family contacts.
Most of my research into the living has resulted from wanting to know more, and trace info regarding the fallen, in WWII.
Before researching the living, and making any info I have available via PM's, I check out the poster's previous posts, to assure myself there is no hidden agenda behind the request.
There was one occasion when I became troubled by the way the exchange of information was being handled. Some thing did not FEEL genuine to me and I became unsure, and concerned that maybe a commercial researcher was using the good will of the site members. I therefore contacted the MODERATORS and we worked through the issues. It was only then, that I got an appreciation about the hard work that they put in keeping the site running smoothly.
I hope someone can help you with your request. All the best.
