Hullo,
How can I find the place and date of death my GGF, John Campbell born Longleys,Perthshire Scotland abt 1826?
Parents, Duncan Campbell (Stonemason) and Elizabeth Baxter.
John Campbell was a Master Mariner (Dundee certificate 1854) and later operated out of Liverpool England.
His last known whereabouts was on the 1871 UK Census Liverpool with his family.
I'm getting on in years and would like to know these details of his life.
Kind regards

Re: missing death records for my GGF
There’s a public tree on Ancestry which has this family. There’s no date of death for John but his wife Mary Ann Louise Usher reportedly died in Dunolly, Victoria, Australia in 1909. Perhaps her death certificate will indicate whether John was still alive? If so, you will then know whether to look before or after 1909 for his death. Also, if she was in Australia, it would seem worth searching Australian records for his death there too.
Searching UK death records for John Campbell without some idea of where and when he died, is very tricky as it is a very common name.
