William Hendry Date of Marriage 1893

He married Elizabeth Jane Howie in 1893 and she died in 1952. She was a widow of William. Any suggestions how I may find his death record. His parents were James Hendry and Janet Gray but the record I have for the birth says 1865 but on the marriage cert it says he was 21 when he married. There are a lot of William Hendrys and the record I have looked at have drawn a blank.

Hi jjlmary,

1. Have you looked at the marriage certificates of their children, to see if William is listed as deceased or not?
2. Did any of their children die before their mother. If yes, was their father listed as deceased or not?
3. When was their youngest child born?
4. Was he still alive at the time of the 1911 census? (If he is not in the same household as Elizabeth at that time, is she listed as married or widowed?)
5. Was he still alive at the time of the 1901 census? (If he is not in the same household as Elizabeth at that time, is she listed as married or widowed?)

All of the above can be used to narrow down the range of years you should be looking at to determine when William died. The location of each of the above may also help to narrow down the place where he died.
