William Anderson and his 2nd wife Joan Moffat.....

Post by Dennis » Mon Oct 24, 2005 7:32 pm

Hello,

I've uploaded the MC for William & Joan. He was a widower and she a widow when they married in 1912. That is all I can read from the MC.

Hi Dennis,

Hopefully someone else will come up with something positive but this is definitely an image that requires a contact form and you'll be sent a photocopy.

Hi Dennis,

Here's my best effort, but it leaves a lot of blanks.
  • 1912
On the fifth day of February
    at Wellington Lane[?], Leith
After publication According tothe Forms of the United Free Church

William Crawford Anderson, [occuopation?], widower, 53
Joan Moffat or Henry, [occupation?], widow, 40

    80 [????] Road, Leith
    25 [????], Leith

    [????] Anderson, fireman[?}, deceased
    [????] Anderson, ms. Crawford, deceased

    William Moffat , [occupation?], deceased
    Lilias Moffat, ms. [????], deceased

    David [????], Minister[?}

    Witness [????]
    Witness [????]

    1912, February 8th at Leith
    [????] Registrar
Take Annette's advice. A photocopy of the original should fill these blanks in.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Wellington Hall? Leith

Could William Crawford Anderson's father be a Seaman?
His mother's name: Ellen?

best wishes

Hi Dennis

I think the Registrars name may be Archer, looking at another effort of his that I have....
..but on another page of entires he makes it look like something else entirely!

OK, found another in his fair hand- thats 2 that look like Archer now..

I'll probably live to regret this, but I'd suggest the registrar may be JWM Archer (she said tentatively...) working from other entries I have of his, on one of his better days, that's what it looks like.

best wishes
Lesley

Hi Dennis,

I don't know where your interest is but a Joan Moffatt married a Mr. Henry in Leith in 1893.

Ha!
Looks like I may have found someone else who thinks the guy is an Archer:
