Is Grandma's Birth on SP Now?.....

Post by scotincanada » Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:15 pm

Hi,

Up to what year do births go now? 1905? Looking for my grandmother's birth & hopeful (fingers crossed!) it gives a father's name as she was "illegitimate", as they once said.

Great Grandma, Eliza MCGREGOR, (January 14, 1887 - 1970s) reportedly gave birth to her daughter when only 17 years of age, so about 1904? Her daughter was named Marion MCGREGOR & was born near Ormsary, Argyllshire, likely in a house called "Ballihourghan" (spelling).

It would be nice to know who my great grandfather was. Thank you!

Mary

Hi Mary
Births on Scotland's People are up to 1904just now, though you shouldn't have too long to wait for 1905.

As far as I remember these things are updated at the beginning of the New Year, so I should think 1905 will be available to search sometime in January 2006. I'm sure someone will give you more up to date info if I've got this wrong!

best wishes
Lesley

Best of luck with the BC. From experience I wouldn't hold out too much hope about finding the father on the birth certificate but you never know. When, or was, she married?
