RCE on Birth Certificate.....

Post by jintyb » Wed Nov 09, 2005 5:26 pm

Hello Forum
My Grandmother's birth cert. has illegitimate on it,it also has SEE REG. of COR.ENTRIES VOL. 1 fs? 112 DEC. 14 1904.Could this be the her Father's name added or is it more likely to be something else? If I send for BC will it have correction on it?
Thank you in advance
Janet

It may well have the father's name inserted if the RCE deals with the outcome of a paternity action in the Sheriff Court; and will be typed rather than based on a photocopy of the register entry. If you want the full text of the RCE, then best to specify this when you order the extract.

In other cases, including death register entries, it's common to find the text of the RCE entry typed on the back of the extract.

David
Thank you.
Hopefully Father's name will be on it and will give me another branch of my family.
Thanks again
best wishes
