No cause of Death.....

Is it normal to have no cause of Death on a certificate? Completely blank.
No certification by Physician & the son who reported it was not present at Death.
Surely they would have been asked some questions or could you just get rid of anybody with impunity? Could it have been a clerical error.

Far from unusual depending on the age of the deceased.

How about uploading the image so that I and others can view it ?! ... and comment as appropriate............

I will try to upload it but...Anyway he died in Banff in 1866,aged 55. I've had another look & I just didnt notice that he died in Hospital but surely they should have certified the Death anyway? In my Nursing days the Death Certificates-you need two Drs signatures for a Cremation,were locked up in the Dangerous Drugs Cupboard.I think the family had to pay about £10.Anyway most Drs didnt keep the money but it went into the Ward's ash fund-yes medical people have sick sense of humour.We would have a night out with the proceeds.More nights out in the Winter than any other time.

From what I can remember of the ex's days in general medicine and surgery, in Edinburgh it was known as the ash cash, Yuck!
