Early Certificate 1837.....

Post by Alcluith » Sun Nov 27, 2005 3:34 pm

Have uploaded an early example of a Birth Certificate. It is from a Newcastle church but though some researchers may be interested in it.

Hi Drew ... just had a look at your cert, and am having problems with the year. This looks more like "Twelth", possibly a corrupted version of the "Twelve" used in the example in the instructions at the bottom of the cert! (The date below the minister's signature is obviously 1837, though.)
Any comments?

Early Certificate

Post by Alcluith » Sun Nov 27, 2005 11:45 pm

Sorry folks I was not asking for information/clarification, only showing an early example of a birth certificate.

Jonathan Usher was born 14 July 1812 and he was married 11 Jan 1838 so maybe he got a copy of his certificate for his forthcoming marriage.
