Need help determining mothers maiden name please.....

I cannot decipher Rose's maiden name perhaps Mc Alan?

It looks very much like McAlay to me.

It is a name I'm not familiar with, but when I googled it,
it does indeed show up in quite a few family histories in
Scotland and on various ships lists.

I have to go put up Christmas lights on the house now.

Ummm...is there a trick to viewing this type of image??? I mean...I click on the link and just get a file not found error message. Is it just me?

That link was probably only valid while you were logged on at ScotlandsPeople and had paid for it. It is not available to anyone else at that address.

If you have downloaded to your PC, then you can upload it to the TalkingScot Gallery. Then we can all see it and have a go at the deciphering.

I read Rose Campbell's maiden name is McAlay.

I'll go with that, unless there's a great big flourish at the end of the second "d" of deceased on the line below, in which case the last letter might be an "n", not a "y".
