Help with Street name on DC.....

Post by Tracey » Sat Dec 24, 2005 10:50 pm

Merry Christmas all

I have uploaded a file in the gallery (i hope !) only i dont think its visable yet or how i go about making it visable xmas:redface: But when it is i am trying to see if the address for Francis Casey on his death cert is Renfield St ? I have looked at street names on Virtual Mitchell and this is the closest i have come to it having searched under B as well.

Thank you

Making it visible is an Admin task - to make sure no unscrupulous person has any opportunity to upload the "wrong type of picture". URL added - AndrewP
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor

Hi Tracey,

I would go along with Royal Infirmary, Glasgow (Res: 10 Renfield Street). I see the possibility of it starting with a "B", but I think it is more like the "R" in Royal.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

First time I've ever seen a bare "Res(idence)".

What happened here is that he died in the Royal Infirmary, his usual residence being 10 Renfield Street, normally written in the register as "Usual Residence" or the initials "U.R.". i.e. the domicile as opposed to the place of death.

Hello David

Do you mean because the registrar or who ever has just written res: after Glasgow Royal Infermary and not usual residence ?

Yes!, but clearly meaning "res" to be taken as the more normally used "usual residence" or "U.R."

As is normally the case, there are brackets around "Res: 10 Renfield Street".

And it wisnae an Assistant Registrar either, it was the man himself, the Registrar William Potter.

Sorry .....got distracted by the Catherine Tate Show !!

Maybe a case of lack of space on the certificate re: res ? Cant say i have any others that state this (she says rapidly searching ).

It seems William Potter has done the same on the last entry too........

I don't think it is Renfield Street.

It looks like Annfield Street to me which was not far from 'The Royal'.
