Re: lost in invergordon
Since Annie would only have been around 66 years old (26 at marriage) it's distinctly possible that she died in 1956 or later, so that the record isn't online.breakish wrote:please please help-------- i am having difficulty working out what happened to my great grandmother annie morrison, she married my g grandfather charles sandison macpherson on 12th jan 1915 in dingwall and lived at 8 clyde street in invergordon. charles died on 22/7/1916 at invergordon in what seems suspicious circumstances, jury, procurator fiscal etc, my grandmother , daughter of above was brought up by other members of the family and this has aroused my suspicions on what happened to annie morrison after my g grandfather died, can anybody help, i am considering prisons, asylums, poor house, ps annie was not mentioned by name on the death certificate of charles!!!!!!!!
The death register entry doesn't have an RCE, the entry having been made with the Procurator Fiscal as informant. The cause of death as above is "as per verdict of Jury" which means a criminal trial of some sort, as I don't believe that an FAI involved a jury.
If there was a criminal trial then NAS will have a record, but the problem is that the index is on the basis of the name of the accused, but that can be solved by a look in the local newspapers. Whether or not there will be any mention of Annie, however, ....................

Later correction - An FAI did involve a jury.

david ,thanks for that, can you explain what rce means, i like you agree that there is a criminal aspect to this which is compounded by the fact that annie was not named on his death certificate, i do not think my grandmother had any more contact with annie ( her mother ) after this as she was brought up by another family member, will the nas help trace any criminal trial

If he was in the Royal Navy, then there's a chance of a service record, which will be at The National Archives at Kew, - it's often best to use the services of an expert in these Kew records, - I can pass on a recommendation to you.breakish wrote:david the other confusing thing is that my uncle states that charles is mentioned on the war memorial at helmsdale. what are naval records like would they be able to enlighten me, if any body out there has any ideas ithey will be gratefully received, ps i have emailed nas tonight
