hi Just joined and have to say what a great site, just what is needed in the complex world of ancestry. Having ancestors from all the countries in the UK finding them is sometimes quite a daunting task.

I am researching Freemans Marykirk Scotland, Watters Dalmellington, McKechnie Glasgow, Stanyard Kingswinford, Usher Durham, Chesney-McAllister North Ireland.

Just wanted to say "Welcome to Talking Scot!"

Do hope you find help for your research and that you have the opportunity to help others with theirs.

Best wishes.

Usher's Durham

Post by Alcluith » Tue Jan 24, 2006 4:44 pm

Joxer42,

Welcome to TalkingScot,

My Grandfather was born in Marykirk but he was a Davidson.

The other name that caught my eye was your Ushers from Durham. My wife's Grandfather was an Usher from Newcastle but the family goes back to Durham. I do have a lot of information on one branch of the Ushers from Thomas Usher and Alice Pearson through their son Jonathan. the other Siblings are John, Ann, Thomas, William, Mary and Jane
Thomas's father was Robert Usher and Ann Dinsell. Thomas's siblings are Robert, Lancelot, John and Ann.

If any of these names tie in then send me a PM and I can share info.
Burns, Quinn - Glasgow, N.Ireland
McLeod, Mackay, Nicholson, McNeil - Skye
James, McLeod, Sinclair, Smith - Renton
Davidson, Adie, Gibb - Aberdeen
Jolly, Wishart - Angus
Usher - Newcastle
Mullen, Roe - Dublin
O'Donnell - Ireland, Alexandria

Hi Agnes

A warm welcome to TalkingScot.

I have a Renfrew LOGAN who married a RALSTON in my tree. Does that name sound familiar?

Best wishes

Hi there
Don't know if this would help anyone but I live in Laurencekirk so could easily go to the churchyards etc for anyone. I don't have transport but Marykirk is only 5 minutes on the bus .
