Ferguson's of Greenock.....

Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd try once more to get through my brick wall. I posted this a few years ago on SP with no luck......but it's worth a try again.

I'm trying to trace ancestors of John Ferguson who married Isabella McDougall (can't find a marriage record). They gave birth to two sons in Greenock. John born April 24, 1856 and Fergus born January 10, 1860.

John married Ann Douglas (my great grandparents) in Greenock in 1879 and according to the marriage record both John and Isabella were deceased. Fergus married Lily McDougall in 1893 in Glasgow and once again parents were noted as both deceased.

I have all the information on John Ferguson and Ann Douglas's children and grandchildren. Haven't been able to locate Fergus and Lily other than the marriage record.

The interesting part about this family is that John Ferguson's mother is Isabella McDougall and Ann Douglas's mother is Flora McDougall. Fergus went on to marry a Lilly McDougall. So many McDougall's and I'm wondering if they are all related in some way.

Flora McDougall (Ann's mother) was born in Jura and Duncan Douglas was born in Bowmore, Isle of Islay. I've been able to trace the Douglas's without any problem.........but the Ferguson's are really getting on my nerves.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Fairly sure Lillie and three daughters, Elizabeth 7, Isabella 4 and Lillie 1 are at Kinning Park in 1901

Lillie's 1900 birth cert confirms it.
