I couldnt see it that clearly to be sure but if its them - on the IGI and if they also had children Agnes and William b 1804 -7 in Old Greyfriars Midlothian then its Fleming !! assuming the submitter is right
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Hi

This one's a cracker!! :?

I would agree with Isobel that it could be Fleming comparing the F with the word 'Fifteenth' in the date entry below.
I had a quick look on IGI for a suitable marriage around 1830 Adam Scott to Mary... but nothing showed up across Scotland; however that proves nothing.
A search for Adam Scott with a wife Mary in Midlothian showed no results either but they may not have been Midlothian anyway.

A county search would take abit of time but might turn up something!

See also the "F" in Father-in-Law in the top record.

Near certainly Fleming.

Many many thanks to you all - I will go with Mary Fleeming / Fleming, and I like the marriage in Peebles - the dates seem about right. I will follow up the birth details kindly given by paddyscar and see where they lead to.
Interestingly Mary's g grandson John Johnstone married a Fleming (and they have been virtually impossible to research - how many James Fleming were there in Lanarkshire in the 1850s!)

Thanks again
