Flora Muirhead Vessey died 1955 Western Infirmary(thanks goes to Talking Scot INA for Certificate)
What I am still searching for is my uncle VIVIAN STANARD VESSEY Floras husband.-
All I know of him is that he was born 1901 Bexley Kent and appeared on the 1901 Census
He was the informant on his wife Flora's death Certificate ( Nee Brown) 45 Shandow Brae Balloch Glasgow 1955. His occupation was Admiralty Engineer Flora was born born in Glasgow 1899
I seem to have exhausted all lookup sites.
WHEN DID VIVIAN STANNARD VESSEY MARRY
WHEN DID VIVIAN STANARD VESSEY DIE.

There is no access to death records after 1955 online in Scotland or marriages after 1930.
If Vivian died in Scotland the record can be found in NRH Edinburgh or Park Circus Glasgow.

Flora Muirhead VESSEY Glasgow
Hi Annette
Unfortunately because of where I live it is impossible to get to Glasgow Or Edinburgh.
How do other researches from a great distance or another country get to obtain certificates . Is there a postal service - I would think it would be a bit difficult without Vol or page Number
Appreciate your advice

Hi Dianne
Being a researcher from a great distance I feel qualified to give you my answer at least. If you know the date of death or marriage or at least a pretty close idea then you can simply pay GROS to search, copy and post the relevant information to you (check out their website for futher details http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/index.html ). If you don't have a clue (as in your case and all of my own
) you either engage a professional researcher in Scotland to obtain the information for you (this has always worked well for me!), find some kind soul through a message board to volunteer a look up for you (I've even had some luck taking this route too), or in this particular case...you might buy a Tombola ticket (see link at top of page) and take a chance of winning a free look up at New Register House or Park Circus that should be able to provide you with the information you seek.
That sounded shamelessly like a promotion didn't it?
Well....TalkingScot provides literally tons of free advice and valuable lookups in a year and would really like to take in a little bit to help pay the website and domain name annual costs. We might be a low budget enterprise but unfortunately we do have expenses.
I do hope you're able to locate the information you seek.
Best wishes
Jean

FLORAN MUIRHEAD Vessey GLASGOW
Thank you Justjean for that helpful information,
and I will certainly go into that site you mentioned.
I really dont know any close date that Vivian Vessey married . If he was born in 1901 it would have to be anytime between say 1920 and 1955 when his wife died - His death sometime between 1955 & ?
The reason I do not know much about him is that my grandfather Cecil Vessey immigrated to New Zealand in 1908 from Kent and he was never ever spoken of.
Thank you again and I will see what I can come up with.

Hi Jack
What a wonderful supprise when I logged into my e-mail this morning.
I really had given up on ever getting a death date for Vivian. How on earth did you find him?
Because having found no death in England & desperate as I was decided to see if he had gone to Scotland or immigrated like my grandfather to NEW ZEALAND
Vivian was born in Bexley Kent 1901 and all my research has been done in Lincolnshire and Kent and it was only a couple of months ago when 'TED" of Talking Scot sent me a Death certificate of Vivians mother Ethell in Ballcoh and Vivian was the informant.
I am so pleased to have death date and can -not thank you enough.
It is always something special when a mystery is solved. You would not believe how long I have searched for Vivian
Thank you once again.
If you ever do come across Vivian & Floras marriage,( I do not believe their were any children ) love to hear back from you
With many thanks.

Re Vivian Stannard Vessey
Hi Dianne,
I forgot to reply - sorry!
>How on earth did you find him?
As VESSEY is rare name in Scotland i just searched for a male DC 1955+ when i was at Park Circus, Glasgow.
And very soon a Vivian Vessey showed up!
I'd mentioned that i couldn't find a Scottish MC looking under VESSEY, but i can't see it under Flora BROWN either.
So is there a possibility that Vivian & Flora married outwith Scotland?
Unless i'm completely missing them for some odd reason....
Jack
