Hi Karen
The way I read it is:
John McMenemey Coal miner (single)
June 10th 1898
Dechmont Colliery usual residence 60 Flemington Rows, Cambuslang
Fracture of ribs and internal injuries caused by fall of stone from a roof.
Sudden death as certified by R.B. McPherson MD …something?
These days they would probably describe it as 'Crushed chest syndrome'
A young lad with all of life before him. We have it easy in comparison don't we?
My father used to drive an ambulance for a coal company and saw some awful results from roof falls.

Hi all:
Thanks for the deciphering, I found dear John on http://www.mining-villages.co.uk. Poor lad, HIs mother died 3 months prior from cancer, and his father James died from a similar accident in 1903.
It makes my heart ache!!
Regards
Karen
