Unknown Birth Info.....

Post by AmericanWoman » Tue Jul 25, 2006 3:58 pm

hi all,

just recently found this site and finding it so helpful with great info and tips.

I have come to a road block on my family tree and was wondering if anyone could be of assistance.

I have a death certificate of my aunt, who died when she was around a year old in 1928, but I can not find her birthdate information.

Her Death Certificate looks like it states that she was 1 year 1/12?? I've asked family members but they all thought she was older when she passed, so no help there.

Her name is Isabella McGowan Paul, born to Daniel and Annie Paul of Greenock Scotland and died of measles on February 26, 1928.

Is there a place that I can find out when she was born? I can not access birth cert online for this year so all help will be much appreicated. Also, would there had been a burial information anywhere that I can also check on?

thank you all so much.

Nancy

Hi Nancy
..and warm welcome to Talking Scot :D

I'd guess the age was 1year and 1 month so looks like she would have been born around January 1927. Births on the Scotlands People site only go up to 1905 currently, as you have found out, so you'd either have to visit New Register House in Edinburgh, contact GROS directly
http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/h ... flet2.html
or pay a researcher to go there for you to look up the birth.

As regards the burial, if it was in the Greeock area, this site might be helpful.

There are contact details at the bottom of that web page.

Best wishes
Lesley
