FC Baptismal Register.....

Hi there
Have searching for what seemed like ages for the birth of one of my relatives - marriage and death certificate pointed to his dob being 1855/56 but after an extensive and very expensive search including a visit to Edinburgh I couldn't find him anywhere.
Tonight someone very kindly looked up the FC Baptismal records and there he was born 1856! Why would he not be registered or did I just not look in the right place etc? Makes me wonder how many others were the same?

The person I was looking for was George Mackay, born Skerray,Parish of Tongue Sutherland.Parents were William Mackay and Catherine Morrison.

The George McKay born in 1856 was the son of Hugh and Ann Campbell

Your George had sisters Bell and Henny

The 1856 call was an easy mistake to make tho' Just about EVERYONE in Tongue was a McKay.

George did have sisters Bell(Catherine) and Henrietta but his mother was definately Catherine Morrison.
Fairly sure I have the right dob now

Blond moment. But it was very early.

Nope I can't see a birth cert for him. There could have been a few years between birth and baptism with the possibility that he was born pre 1855.
