Hi Kathy,

I'll go for:

John Alcorn, Road Man
Nancy Alcorn m.s. Carrol

1859 January 12th
Milford Ss Joseph ______ (?)

I trust you noticed the other boinus on that certificate in the left margin, that Sarah was a twin. Have you seen her twin's birth certificate? The marriage details may be clearer there. Unlucky the twin is on a diiferent page.

I am trying unsuccessfully to find this birth on the IGI - that may give more leads if I can find it. I am wondering if it is mis-indexed in there. Later - the birth was 1885, so afther the IGI cut-off date.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Kathy,

From the online IGI, three other births whose certificates which should hold that elusive marriage detail:

JOHN ALCORN - Birth: 22 MAR 1871 Middle-East-West Parishes, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland
JOSEPH ALCORN - Birth: 15 DEC 1873 Middle-East-West Parishes, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland

All the best,

AndrewP

Looks very like Milford, Co Donegal, Ireland to me.

IGI Has Alcorns in Milford, Donegal; couldn't see the right ones, but might help to pin them down.

I think the registrar tried a wee bit too hard to squeeze it all in, Lesley :D

Given my attempt above, I'm glad Lesley and emanday made out Co. Donegal Ireland. Now they have given that, I can see it, but I was never close to getting that before.

All the best,

AndrewP
