Further to the above conclusion that Margaret WARES was a Child adopted, a Grand Daughter, under Guardian etc, is:

Death Margaret Wares Muir- GROS-644/021247. Death: 11.06.1869. 124 Duke St, Glasgow. (22). Parents listed as David Wares, Grocer , (dec) and Marion nee: Allison (dec). Cause of death- Acute bronchitis. Married to William Muir, Flesher. GROS-644/021247

And further consideration can be given to an 1851 Census account-

Piece: SCT1851/43 Place: Wick-Caithness Enumeration District: 6. Civil Parish: Wick Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: Wick. Folio: 0 Page: 5 Schedule: 16. Address: Ulbster. Surname First name(s) Rel Status Sex Age Occupation Where Born Remarks. 1. SUTHERLAND Mary Guard U F 40 Hired Servant Caithness - P. Latheron Guard of Family Orphan. 2.
