Hi Ellen
This one slipped by me but I've had to edit yourpost becasue we can't really discuss persons who may be living here on TS (e.g. If the birth is after 1905), see:
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6601

Please bear this in mind for any future posting. Thanks
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Ellen
Scotlands People covers:
» Births up 1905
» Marriages up to 1930
» Deaths up to 1955

If they died before 1955 you should be able to find the death on SP. If they died before 1955 they can be mentioned on TS too. If there is no sign of a pre-1955 deth on SP, either they died after 1955 or did not die in Scotland. If they died after 1955 you would have to go to NRH in Edinburgh, Park Circus in Glasgow or contact GROS:
http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/h ... flet2.html

We will tend to err on the side of caution here - if there is a chance someone is still alive we would prefer to respect their privacy and not mention them on a public forum. I certainly would not like to see my "name in lights" on here, so we extend the same consideration to others. The persons mentioned on the death cert. seemed to be pretty recent, so the situation is still the same with that as far as I understand. Hope this explains the situation :D

Best wishes
Lesley
