Lachlan Lang - Help with Death!!!

Post by David Lang » Mon Jan 08, 2007 11:37 am

I have just found a new relative on the 1906 Births , unfortunately I cannot find his death record.

Lachlan Lang (my great uncle) born in 1906 in Greenock , Renfrewshire to Duncan Lang and MARY McFarlane Scally. He would be the oldest son in a 12 children family.

My father remembers all of the other children bar the ones who died early and we have managed to chase them down. But doesnt remember Lachlan or my grandfather mentioning him.

In 1930 Duncan Dies and my Grandfather (the 2nd oldest son)is the witness and the same in 1936 for Mary's Death Certificate.

The family stayed in greenock till the early 1910s then moved to Inverkip. The parents were from Campbeltown and quite often travelled back there. My father thinks they may have been in Hull for a short period of time but cant be 100% sure

I have searched SP for all three areas and using wildcards for the spellings but to no success can any kind soul help

Thanks in advance

Hello David,

sometimes the obvious approach works! Try 1912 Dunfermline.

Hi David:

It seems the person registering the death, incorrectly stated his birth year.

Searching SP, Lachlan Lang / male / b 1906 / died 1906 - 1956 all districts produces no hits, even with wildcards, as you have already found.

Change the mix to: b 1906 +/- 2 years and you get a hit.

It can be further narrowed down to: b 1906 +/- 1 year, Dunfermlin and the hit holds.

My points on SP have expired, so can not confirm further.

Hope this helps,

Frances
