I can usually decipher even some awful ones but this one was beating me right from the start. Too many broken lines to work round.

I would suggest a quick Contact Form to SP to ask for a better copy.

What I can make out is:-

Died 18 July 1884 ? ? Port Glasgow

Father John Prentice ? Master, deceased
Mother Janie Prentice m.s. ? deceased

Sorry it's the best I can do.

Suggest you contact SP for a clearer copy.

The online IGI gives this list of offspring to John Getty and Elizabeth Prentice.

MARGARET SWAN GETTY - Birth: 13 JUL 1855 Bridgeton, Glasgow
GETTY - (Male) Birth: 02 JAN 1857 Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire
ALEXANDER GETTY - Birth: 25 MAY 1860 Houston And Killellan, Renfrewshire
HELEN GETTY - Birth: 24 APR 1863 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire

John and Margaret's marriage details should be noted on the 1855 and 1863 birth certificates (parents' marriage details are not normally found on birth certificates of 1856 to 1860). The 1855 certificate should tell you how many children have been born to each of the parents and how many were living at the time of the 1855 birth. The birthplaces of both parents should also be on the 1855 birth certificate.

As the 1857 child was not named, he probably (but not necessarily) died within days of birth.

As Getty is an uncommon name, this family should be able to be found on the censuses without much work.
