Hi,
Would anybody be able to help me with finding the death record for HUGH GILLAN B1857 in Duntocker, O.K.? His last child (that I know of) was born in 1898 so it must be after then.
Thanks for any help

Assuming that Hugh's parents were Peter GILL[A/O]N and Ann GILL[A/O]N MS KEENAN, there's one very obvious match for the death of Hugh at
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk , based on his year of birth.

Hi
I like to narrow up the death window for a husband by finding his wife's death first. This is usually a spot on search when you know her maiden name and married name. I'm assuming here that you've already puchased the MC certificate for them. If not then you need to visit 1878 in Lanarkshire. In your case her death is easily found....and once you read this you'll note that Hugh was still living!! So now you just moved the time up from the birth of the last child to the death of the wife and later. An enormous leap forward!!!! Using her death year and leaving it wide open to the end of online access to the death records and there are only a page worth of results in the whole country.......and one leaps off the page as being in the same district as her death was.
Good luck...and please let us know how you get on with the search!
