Hi there,
Am looking for any info with regards to the marriage of:
Dorothy McElwee to Albert Whittle on 23rd.July 1949 believed to have taken place in Scotland.
I know this is a fairly recent date time in genealogical research,but it is on behalf of a lady here in Australia, who has no other family that she knows of.Both the above are now deceased.

As I'm sure you know, 1949 is too recent a marriage to appear in the online databases. So someone would need to look up the record in person. I have never tried to look up a record that I have not already found on Scotland's People and am not sure how easy it is to search without knowing the area in Scotland. Can anyone out there offer some words of wisdom on this one?

I'm not sure if the fact that you don't know where the marriage took place will affect their likely success, or if they can even do it without that information, but it is worth a try.

I couldn't find the 1949 marriage in Scotland, or even a good few years before & after.
Maybe i missed Albert because he's under a different surname spelling of Whittle?
But i also tried forename starting "A" with surname Whittel, Whitely & even White...
Also tried for Dorothy, forename starting "D" with McElwee & Mcilwee.
