Death of Peter Stewart in Glasgow in 1862

Post by ihenderson73 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 9:28 pm

Hi folks

I've recently downloaded the image of this gentleman's death (viewable at http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... ?pos=-1150).

Can someone have a look at this for me and tell me if they are able to decipher Peter's mother's maiden name? I've got that her married name is Elizabeth Stewart, but I'm unable to get her maiden name.

Thanks in advance.
Currently researching: Henderson, Bennet, Brown, Callan, Carruthers, Chisholm, Crow, Gray, Grierson, McAlister, McDonald, Moffat, Morris, Morrison, Muir, Peck, Ross, Sharp, Taylor, Walker, White. And lots, lots more :)

Hi,

Could it by Hyndman?

Between 1781 and 1840, there are 7 Elizabeth Hyndmans listed on SP.

3 in Ayr [although I think two are the same person]
1 in Bute
1 in Renfrew
1 in Argyll
1 in Edinburgh

There's also a marriage in 1797 between an ALEXANDER STEWART and a MARY HYNDMAN in Greenock Old or West /RENFREW

If any of the places fit, it might be worth a look..

Best wishes

Brian

I "see" "gnd", maybe "ynd", in the middle, but what goes before and after I can't imagine, particularly in terms of what could make any sense given a capital "K" or "H" or whatever ................

Hi Ian

Like Brian, I am positive it is HYNDMAN.

At first glance the writing looks OK but sometimes one word runs into the next.

Maybe the guy was tired.

I would agree on Hyndman.

Interesting last 2 names on this 1841 census where Peter and Ma(r)y Henderson were married.

Neil Craig married Ann Hyndman in 1802.
