Perfectly valid in the eyes of Scots Law.

I was very excited when I found one of mine marrying by Declaration.
In their case the bride was very young I think 16 & as they gave the same address-a hotel in Glasgow presume they were marrying against parental wishes There may have been the good old Protestant/Catholic divide to add to the mix too.
Perfectly legal & equally valid to a marriage in front of a Minister.
