Hi Dennis

Maybe we could decipher the certificate but with no certainty of accuracy.
I would recomend getting back to scotlandspople and asking for a legible photocopy. That way you will be sure of the contents and flag up the inadequacies of the electronic version of this particular certificate.

I think that it's coincidence, - it looks like all 1931 marriage images have been withdrawn, - at least there's nary a single one for 14 pages of male SMITHs ............

These and other 1930s marriages images have long been known to be a problem, so maybe this is to do with the re-imaging process ...........

I would also say this reads Temperance

It is interesting that the image is no longer available and perhaps is being re-done.

Recently I have had several illegible images on the scotlandspeople website ( completely bleached out or over exposed with barely nothing legible) but if you complete the relevant form form on the website to request the information for which you have paid there is efficient response and they will forward to you a clear photocopy of the entry.

Hi David,

That is exactly what happened. It was very kind of them to send me a better scan as an attachment; I let them know how much it was appreciated.
