Re: 1855 A Scottish Statutory Story

Hello Kitkat, & Happy New Year. I doubt that someone would go through the registration process twice unless they had no choice in the matter. Section XXXVI of the 1854 legislation reads as follows. https://www.google.com.au/books/edition/Practical_Analysis_of_the_Acts_relating/-7FXAAAAcAAJ?hl=en&gbp...

Re: Broadgreens, Banchory Devenick - what happened?

Hello All, 15 February 2011 The Press and Journal A Deeside burial ground could be extended and given a new car park after plans were lodged with Aberdeenshire Council. Re: Newspaper reports of recent events

Hello Nina,

I tried my best but didn’t have any luck with the search. The records are just digital entries rather than scanned pages and there doesn’t appear to be any way of browsing to find all entries on a specific date.

All the best,
Alan

Re: Newspaper reports of recent events

Hello Nina, From the mid 1990s, or whenever, newspapers began to introduce new processes using word processors, or whatever, and these newspaper archives can sometimes be accessed in digital form. Factiva is one resource that makes these available. Factiva is available online via the State Library o...

Re: Emigration from Scotland

Before 1901 there was no Australia as a country, just an island by that name .There were only a number of entirely seperate British colonies that did things their own way. It seems they didn't get around to synchronising their censuses until 1881. If the census records had survived presumably those ...

Re: Royal Navy Records

Hello Lynn, If he enlisted after 1928 his records would still be held by the Ministry of Defence. It seems they have started the process to transfer these to the National Archives. Info on this page as to how to apply from MOD. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/requests-for-personal-data-and...

Hello Maurie, As an example, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives has the Militia records for Aberdeen County listed here. They include Enrolment Books (1802-1804) etc. https://archives.aberdeencity.gov.uk/calmview/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=AS%2FAMil&AddBasket=AS%2FAMil Perth & Kinross...
