Hello Jeni and welcome,
When was your grandfather born and, not sure it would help but, what was his name.
Regards,
Annette.

Re: Frederick Asken
Thanks Wilma. I have Frederick and Bridget's marriage entry in 1862. But no sign of him in 1861 or before. I also have his mother Ann's death entry in 1872 but no sign of her in 1871 or before. So frustrating. I think I'm just going to stop at Frederick who I have lots of info on. Thanks again, Anne...

Re: Frederick Asken
Thank you both for looking Wilma and Andrew. You are both looking at the correct family. Thomas Asken (and variations) born 1872 died in 1876 by the looks of it. I can see it indexed but haven't looked at the entry. My Thomas was born in 1890 to the same couple - Frederick Asken and Bridget Hannaway...

Re: Helen Gray 1916
Thanks everybody. Alan, I did look at The Herald but found nothing  and it is the only report to say 3 people were actually charged. What a pity they didn't give the names! Helen had an illegitimate child to a Thomas Erskine, a tube worker in 1912. Allegedly Thomas died in the war and I wonder...

Re: Helen Gray 1916
Hi Andrew,
I wondered the same.
Although the death entry mentions the assault the post mortem doesn't and gives the cause of death as sudden heart failure. I was hoping for the names of the people mentioned in the newspaper.
Regards,
Annette

Helen Gray 1916
Hello all, Helen Gray, age 22 was assaulted and died at 103 Dale St, Glasgow in January 1916. I have her death entry which says she died of a heart attack after the assault. I have also found newspaper reports of the people referred to the sheriff but no names. I cannot find anything to tell me who,...

Success after 20 years of searching!
Some of you may remember my very first post, made way back in 2004, was about my biggest brick wall - David Mitchell born 1868 at Lochee. ](*,) A wee summary in 2011 since the original has long gone - http://www.talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16663&p=133686&hilit=mahood#p133686 Well I can...
