Re: Robert and Violet Smith Milliken Park Road

Hi again Ruth, I had initially answered on the other thread, but for completeness I'll post it here too: I had a search through the records, google etc and can't really find anything concrete for you. No deaths in Scotland match the dates you have for a couple of those names. I suspect it is a favou...

Re: Cartside House, Kilbarchan

Hallo, I have no idea how to use this forum. I tried clicking on ‘cemeteries’ but it didn’t take me anywhere. Re: Death 1975

That's good,

Ancestry , I think, had BT phone books for that era, so you could perhaps use that to trace when they moved to that address, to narrow down their movements.

Re: My Birth Certificate

Yes, there was further blurb at the bottom of his 2001 certificate. It's funny my daughter, born a few years before has a totally different layout to her brothers' and my husband's is slightly different, in format and layout, from mine. It's interesting in itself how the paper copies have evolved. M...

Re: My Birth Certificate

Hi Nina, nice to 'see' you again :) All our 'Birth certificates' are extracts of the legal documents - which are kept in NHR Edinburgh. I have my son's to hand at the top it states: Extract of an Entry in a REGISTER of BIRTHS (Section 37(2) of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages ( Scotl...

The original Poster carolann hasn't been active for a few years, but hopefully ...

Re: Search for US Navy Officer

[TS_welcome] Jeanette, That's a tricky one to try and resolve. You have lots of little clues, but nothing concrete enough to really help in a search. As you mentioned 2 surnames, I thought perhaps one may his mother's maiden name so searched all of Scotland for a birth of an Ale* Brown Mother's name...

Re: Death 1975

It does get tricky the closer to present you get as , quite rightly , records are not in full public view.
