Just above that there is a link "Contact people who submitted this information"

Click on that and it gives you a list of the user names. Just click on them to send a message.
I just tried to find this on the page of the family tree for Richard W. Dobbin that I was referring to and it wasn't there. One of the things that drives me a little crazy with these trees is that they aren't consistent! Of course, I can't complain too much. I'm not consistent about keeping mine updated!

I think the main thing is that contact details kept up to date so if you do see something you can then ask the tree owner but so many of them seem to be copied and info put on without checking which is the biggest no no still I love all the census entries an ancestsry they have helped me very much over the years

Just got the reply from Ancestry

This time I emailed ancestry rather than phoning and got a reply and now we know the story on the no contact trees see the reply below

Dear Lesley,

We appreciate your message.

If the contact information is listed as unknown then this was a tree that was submitted to Genealogy.com using the Family Tree Maker software program.

The system on the other website collects street addresses and not email addresses. On that website you can find the tree that you want and request the tree submitters information.

Because it would not be very safe to post the names and street addresses of the tree submitter's the information was posted as unknown when it was combined with the trees on Ancestry.com.

For the tree link that you provided I put in a request for the contact information for you .

You should receive the information within the next 72 hours.

Hello Lesley,

The new LDS pilot site shows the marriage I think you are looking for - Harriet Dobbin to Samuel Gunning at Newtonards in 1852.

If you really want the details contact www.familyulster.com who will email a transcription for £6. I've had a couple from them now but the only extra details have been the name of the church and the groom's father's name.

Have a read at a previous discussion.

Regards,
Annette

I could not find anything on Ancestry that indicated it came from Genealogy.com

Thanks Annette

I found it the other day in Emerald Ancestors and they want £12 for a transcription !! and I really don't think that there will be much on that and £12 is a lot of money for a transcription
we are so very lucky with Scotlands people its the best in the world and the cheapest
I have all Samuels and his parents info from Newtownards headstones and the Scotlands People records as he moved to Glasgow but the only mention of Harriet was on his death cert as his second wife no death for her in Glasgow or sign of her and Samuel was there from at least 1861 with his other children Ancestry are going to send me an address so at least I can write to the folk who have the tree my main interest is the child Jane and whether she and her mother survived regards lesley
