Christine,

Can you imagine putting your head out the kitchen window and calling Farquhar Gray to dinner?

Wilma,

Taylor is a very popular name for both boys and girls over here too. It was my grandmother's middle name and I have yet to figure out where it came from! Guess her mother may have just liked it.

I think Farquar Grey was the name of the pastor who married Rabbie Burns and Jean Armour

I have several Benjamina females in one of the lines of my tree. I spent a long time trying to find the origin of the first one. It eventually turned out to be the female derivation of the name of the tenant of the farm where my 3xgreat grandfather was grieve. He must have been trying to hang in with his boss by having his daughter baptized with his name. The name passed down through another two generations.

Hi everyone,

Every time I think I've chosen a "most unusual" name, someone tops it!

One thing I have noticed is that these are all cases where a female has been given a male name. When I was telling my husband about some of these, he reminded me that he had a college friend whose cousin was named Beverley.

Any males with traditionally female names in the family trees? Or maybe they are just being shy!
