Here was me moaning about getting soaked on Wed. evening.I had no idea the weather was so bad "up North".
Hope the weather has improved & there are no men gathering wood & animals two by two.

The weather is lovely here today! I feel for those looking for alternative accommodation following the floods - they will be lucky if they are home for Christmas - my wife lived in the deep end in 1997!
This week's Northern Scot had a story about the successful introduction of the Forres Flood Alleviation Scheme: I hope it worked.

I'll think of something appropriate soon!

As a Gloucester resident, I sympathise with all of you up there. We had a "bit of a flood" a few years back and some people have only just moved back in very recently. We were "lucky" in that we were without mains water for three weeks, but it makes you VERY appreciative of the basic things in life!

not waiving but drowning
I thought I had heard them all, but the other day a friend told me very seriously about her trip to Spain. She had gone on a regular service bus but did not have the right change, this caused a bit of a problem for the driver as he could not make out where she wanted to go either. She was so annoyed with him that she told him 'in no uncertain terms' (her words) to speak ENGLISH! As A Glaswegian (still) I have lived here for 60 years and have got used to them, but when I really get annoyed I remind them their land is merely the back wash off the Caledonian Mountains so they have a lot of catching up to do.
