You're never too late to post on this topic! I just came across a possible female Longmuir relative who was named Keith Alica!

She's on the 1851 census with her father and then disappears. Haven't figured out yet whether she died or just dropped the Keith.

Carol :D
Couldn't resist this one Carol.

Surely this has to be her -

KEITH ALICE RAMSAY DUNBAR LONGMORE

Marriages:
Spouse: JOHN BAGRIE
Family
Marriage:
23 JUL 1854 Fordyce, Banff, Scotland

It looks like John is a widower in 1880 at Canada. :?

But this looks like Keith in 1901

Name: Keith Bagrie
Age: 72
Estimated birth year: abt 1829
Relationship: Patient
Where born: Duffus, Elginshire
Registration Number: 136
Registration district: New Spynie
Civil parish: New Spynie
County: Moray
Address: Poorhouse
Occupation: Formerly Washer & Cleaner

You can see her in earlier census records at Ancestry with her children.

It would be interesting see Helen's birth entry to see what it says about her father-

HELEN LONGMORE

Event(s):
Birth:
06 JAN 1859 Cullen, Banff, Scotland

Parents:
Mother: KEITH LONGMORE OR BAGRIE

and William's -

WILLIAM LONGMOOR

Event(s):
Birth:
07 SEP 1865 Cullen, Banff, Scotland

Parents:
Mother: KEITH LONGMOOR OR BAGRIE

Annette

Wow! Thanks, Annette!

Helen was illegitimate. No father's name given, but Keith listed herself as Bagrie, ms Longmore so I suspect that John shipped out to Canada and just prettied up the fact that he wasn't married, but left a family behind in Scotland.

I hadn't gone too far back with my Longmoor, -more, -muir branch until just yesterday. Now I'm finding that I might be related to just about all of the Longmoor etc.'s in Scotland. Keith's father was brother to my 3x Longmore greatgrandfather John who's aunt Isobel Longmoor married a cousin of some degree, John Longmoor. I have two new charts drawn up on newsprint and have been thoroughly lost several times today and may never figure out the rest of the family. Add to that Keith's father moved to Duffus, Elginshire, Morayshire or Banffshire depending on what piece of paper you look at!

I love it! And my work table is trashed once again!

Carol :D

I've edited names in here twice already. I think I have them correct now!
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

Lesley,

I had forgotten about them! How could I? I heard a rumor that they named their band after a city in my home state--Bay City, Michigan!

Have to pass on the video. My dial-up would take an hour to download it!

Hi Carol,

Wikipedia confirms the rumour that they named the band after Bay City, Michigan.

Aw! They're not so bad looking especially if you Google around and get the current pics. Alan turned 60 in 2009!

Here's a picture of my great grandmother Isabella Longmuir Clerihew circa 1900:

Trawling through the census at S.P. last week I chanced upon the delightful name of Humphreyetta Dixon (no relation). I had to read it twice to make sure I wasn't imagining it. My first thought was poor quine but I hope she was called Etta most of the time.

Jen,

I can just imagine what the other kids made of Humphreyetta at recess!

Just recently discovered that one of my quilting friends(female) who goes by the name Dean is really named Willowdean. What a beautiful name!

Hello Jen & Carol,

There are no Humphreyetta’s south of the border on FreeBMD.

But on SP there’s a single census entry in 1871, 1891, and 1901, and a single birth, 1859, and two deaths, both 1946. Maybe the death was registered twice or she has married and the search is picking up both names. It looks like she has stuck with the name throughout her long life except when she married. Perhaps she broke the news to her husband afterwards.
