With a bit of enhancement and enlargement, I could make out what appears to be an old nameplate at the bow of the boat. There's also what looks like plate below that's been painted over.
Unfortunately both were too difficult to read and possibly wouldn't have of any help anyway in identifying the loch.
Thinking about the possibility of the hut being a fishing hut, could the loch belong to a big country house? Were the Lanarkshire Yeomanry stationed at one?

Re: White shed beside a loch - where?
Greetings.
I've asked a professional photographer about this photo. He states without a high resolution scan, he can not be sure if the photo is original. But states it was quite possible to take photos like that, all those years ago, and supplied one photo of his relatives, of that period, taken outside, which I have permission to onforward to Adam.
His only caution, was the fact that in war time, it was very common for photo studios, to be set up, for the taking of service personel photos.

The camera has been set up for the main subject matter, which is why the soldiers are in sharp focus and perfectly exposed. The light coloured shed is not only a blot on the landscape but because it is in the sun is grossly overexposed to the extent that it is just a blob on the landscape. I don’t think it’s the work of a professional photographer.
Probably stating the obvious but the soldiers and the boat are in shadow, there is what looks like tree shadows extending half way across the waterway. There is possibly only the slightest trace of a shadow from the oar on the side of the boat. The terrain is probably similar on both sides of the waterway.
There are lots of WW1 wristlet watches down this path http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trench_watch
Still guessing,
Alan

Hi Adam.
You are a great tease with this picture. I can not resist coming back to it. Have you enquired from yachting people about the boat?
"Hibee" raises the question re the seating. To my eye it looks like an old craft, and could have been used as a ferry punt at some point, because the seating at the stern, appears horseshoe shaped and passenger friendly.
