How does one know if it is the right person?

Think I might have found the marriage of Margaret Strachan Walker

On Seventh of March 1902

Thomas McEwan / Age 21 / Crance Driver married

Margaret S Walker / Age 19 / parents Duncan Walker Margaret Strachan

Statuory Marriages 572/02 0020 Page 10

Can print off a copy and email it to you if you want. Hasn't helped me find her death cert yet but will keep on trying.

That helps prove my Great Grandfather did indeed marry Margaret Ann Walker and not her sister Margaret Strachan Walker as he put on her death cert.

Hi Heather,

Maybe I have picked this up wrong but just a thought, the cert you found for Margaret Strachan born in Greenock, the witness is an Aunt Jane, on the marriage cert you found of a Jane Strachan to William Connelly, Jane is 40 years old in 1869.

This would make her birth year 1819.

If I am right on reading the certificate the relationship is to the baby, for this Jane to be an Aunt to Margaret Strachan, the baby, is it not too big gap.

Hi Wallace,
Margaret Strachan's father was William Strachan and he was born abt 1811 in Ireland and died aged 65 in Saltcoats. His father was Adam Strachan. Jane's parents on her marriage cert are John Strachan and Mary Jane Birkby so can't see a tie in for these 2 families.
