I nearly dropped my tea when I saw TS appear on David Mitchell's laptop
Also great that he got a reply from the gent (sorry can't remember his name) who had a copy of John Forbes' will.
Exellent.

I thought David Mitchell’s story was interesting as are most of the subjects on this series, but I was a bit perturbed with the line taken about John Forbes’ Will. There seemed to be much made of the fact that gifts to his daughters were for their exclusive use the program seemed to make out that this was in some way a controlling issue.
The program did refer to this as providing financial independence for the daughters but I believe the reference to "controlling" was in respect of the condition which required the approval of the rest of the family of the prospective groom before any of the daughters could consider marriage or if they married without this approval they were to repay the money. This coupled with the comments about his wife and the conditions laid down there, gave a very different picture of John Forbes from that provided by other contributors.

I probably missed heard it however I thought he said that the £100 could not be used in the daughter's life time, I know that doesn't make sense.

Hi Mary,
I'm not sure about being a star, but most definitely a twinkle in my parents eyes.

Thanks to Currie....I hope I will remember to watch SBS on a Sunday night.
I've been having a look around and I notice there are a lot of new members now posting. I wonder how many of them found us as a result of the program? Any of you 'newbies' out there like to own up?

Don't be shy!

With a smug smile on my face I am confessing to joining just before Who do You think you are aired its programme. I too did a double take as I'd only just signed up.
BUT I only joined because you went offline and then sent a message to Dick Eastman's forum as otherwise I'd never heard of you. (Not that I'd looked to be fair)
So some of your new members could be because you went offline. Every cloud etc.......
Family legend says my lot came down from Scotland with Bonnie Prince Charlie and deserted in Derby. No evidence of course - only Williamson I can find deserted from the Government side.

Hi houseworkfairy
I too did a double take as I'd only just signed up.
That must have felt really weird, like a deja vu experience of a sort!
Best wishes
