We drove by there in the autumn a few years ago-- absolutely breathtaking scenery! And how sad to have to leave it...

That's the best time to go - stunning vista's you can get out and take in without being attacked by midges! But it breaks my heart to think of how it must have been for them in the end.

You can't see it from the image, but there are earthworks all around the tree, dozens of mounds that you might think are natural features. I was told last time I was there last summer that they're actually the unmarked graves of some of the ancestors, which was why they chose that spot to erect the cairn.

It's great being able to do that. A friend of mine joked that instead of the two weeks holiday driving round the Highlands as planned this summer he's just going to sit at home in front of his pc instead!

It's a shame when they have covered so much of Scotland that Glen Loth hasn't been done. Hopefully that's one of the few roads that hasn't been driven along. They've even been up to Croick Church way up behind Ardgay.
