Incidentally to this, I have now found 14 patents taken out by my father before, during and after the war! Which is also one explanation of why he went to the US in 1946-7 - which I just remember - as one of them is American.
He came back on the Queen Elizabeth, and we have a menu signed by the waiter to say that he worked his way right through it!

Re: Patents?
Greetings Alison.
Just looked up a historic 1919 US patent as part of my research, and thought of your searches. Do you have any historic US patent numbers, that you are yet to get a copy of. I could try the search facitity that I used.
Regards Alan SHARP.

Re: Patents?
Hello Alan. Sorry I only just got back here!
The one American patent I found was on:
http://www.google.com/patents?id=KeFvAA ... &q&f=false
Patent number: 2615231
Filing date: Jan 17, 1947
Issue date: Oct 28, 1952
My Dad was in America from October 1946 to January 1947. There isn't much in his 1946 diary to say what he was doing, and we don't have a 1947 diary, so don't know where he went then in America. For all I know there may be other patents to do with his work as industrial chemist.
All the others I found were about textiles, except one which was to do with a new antifreeze. This, his boss was trying to get the credit for - so I was glad to see his name on it first!
regards, Alison.

Re: Patents?
Greetings. Very busy at the moment trying to be all things, to quite a number of people. Making some advances with my milking research, due to linking up with an Australian researcher. Had partial success in helping to find family of NZ pilots killed in WWII and the returning of correspondence of that period, and the list goes on. However I will keep this post in mind, and the next time I'm in patent search mode, will try to crunch a few numbers. Found the site I used much improved, novice researcher wise, than some five years ago. All the best with your research - Alan SHARP.
