Hi Dugie,

They are there on Ancestry. Use the youngest one of an age to be in the previous census - the age is least likely to be far out. Search in 1871 England for Agnes Phillips, born 1870 ± 2 years. You should get 19 results. One of them includes father William Hy. Phillips living in Gloucestershire, with wife and three young children.

The ages in census can be wrong either because the person giving the info lied :oops: or made a mistake also the transcription itself may be wrong not unusual on ancestry....so you then need to see the original record ..most of the time if you have a name that is distinctive you can be sure thats the correct person lesley in Tassie
