Re: Access Problems
New posts may be low but it doesn't seem to be affecting new members registering.

Re: Access Problems
I'm still experiencing intermittent access problems from both home and at work, so I expect I am not the only one. Although access seems a little better now (at least I can log in sometimes...
) it is not reliable for me yet. Just so those of you out there who are still having problems know that you are not alone!
Best wishes

Re: Access Problems
Hi all
Just to let you know for the last few days I am now getting on the site most of the time without any problems via the normal route.
For the past couple of weeks I could only get on via the FAQ page.
Thanks and hoping this continues
Susan

Aye weel...........AndrewP wrote:TS is definitely NOT moribund. It has just not had these sorts of technical issues before. Not everyone has found the workaround. So yes, new posts are low just now, but that will be resolved when we are fully back up and running.Montrose Budie wrote:Given the major recent problems regarding access to TalkingScot, solved now as far as I can see, but wha kens as regards others, it would appear that the number of new posts on TS is so low, as to appear that that TS is moribund ........

All I'll comment is that, over the last few days, the number of posts in the Scottish section of another genealogy discussion group has been more than 30 (thirty) compared to a bare handful here.
QED ?!

Re: Access Problems
I would assume if people cannot log on - it is somewhat difficult to post here. I am too scared to log off & see if I can reconnect - for fear that I cannot. I seem to have been lucky with my access.
We recently had 4 days with an internet access worse than the original 2400 bit phone line speed; nothing other than text pages would load - I was throwing equipment around the room while trying to explain to the provider - IT IS NOT MY FAULT. NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON MY NETWORK. Why am I expected to crawl around the floor connecting and disconnecting working equipment. Everything pings as it should. All my computers talk to each other. Internet checks SAY it is working - etc etc. Four different call centre "experts" gave four different suggestions. (NO I have not used my monthly download allowance, my husband insists on it being so large I would be watching movies night and day to exceed it). Magically (as is said) with no change from my end, but stories of changes at the local telephone exchange - it all started working as it should about 10am yesterday morning.
Meanwhile - thank you so much Andrew for your perseverance and efforts - always appreciated.

Re: Access Problems
now now boys behave!
I guess the regulars and old-hands should be lining up our brick walls to keep the place looking busy until the problems go away.
Andrew keep up the good work.
MB question from your neck of the woods: why is the Barracks roundabout called that?
