Hi Christine,

Aahh! trying to find those marriages for the females in the family...not always an easy job (at least not for me) :)

The free search on SP brings up a Jean Rankin born 1857 who died in 1918...no way of knowing if it's your Jeannie....did you check for her death?

Regards,
Anne H

Good luck in finding Jeannie :)

I have absolutely nothing on my Marshalls with the exception of my 4x great grandmother :( I believe my Marshalls were probably from Larbert. If I ever get into Edinburgh to have a look at the sasine for one of her sons, I might get a lead there...unfortunately, it will be a while before I get back home :(

Hi Christine...sorry I can't help out with your Queensland family...keep at it though, you might come across them yet

Do you have any ancestors called Hogg, Finlayson, Russell, Marshall, Forsyth or McNab...these are my families from Larbert...of course, I'm talking about 230-240 years ago  I have a feeling there might be some of the Hogg family still living in Larbert, so if you run across any of them, let me know

Hi , No I have everything on Margaret Rankine my gt gt granny,I would just like to know what happened to her wee sister Jeanie coz Im nosey  Hogg the woman I work beside is a Hogg before she married and became a Horn, but she originates from Grangemouth which isnt too far from Larbert she told me that the name comes from sheep workers and not pigs, from the borders in Scotland. I also worked with Annmarie Hogg years ago but she hailed from Coatbridge. Happy Hunting

I tried to find her in any census at all and failed... although I'm pretty sure I found her family. I see her birth in the IGI, but no sign of her in the James & Agnes household in any year. Was she living with a grandparent?

All the best,
Sarah

WEE JEANNIE

Post by iluvu2 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 6:58 pm

Hi Sarah,Thank you for doing that I found her on a census but the writing looked more like Jessie rather than Jeanie, and nothing else,I thought maybe she had died young but never got a death ,beginning to wonder if she emigrated.

There is a Jessie who was 11 in the 1871 census, but I think she is Jane Brown Rankine, born 10 Sep 1859 in Slamannan. Or did you find one who was the right age to be Jeanie?

All the best,
Sarah
