I am posting what I know about my Lipsey family in hopes that someone will see a connection:
(3rd Great Grandfather) James Lipsey b. late 1700's wife unknown
(2rd Great Grandfather) Thomas Lipsey b. abt 1810 Ireland, married to Elizabeth Carson in Ireland. Their children were 1. Andrew Lipsey d. 23 Feb 1874, Tannochside Scotland, 2. Mary Jane Lipsey m. John Dickson, 3. William Lipsey (my G Grandfather) m. Elizabeth Farris 1 Jan 1872 in Newarthill, Lanarkshire, Scotland, 4. Thomas Lipsey m. Rebecca, 5. George Lipsey m. Elizabeth Abernathy 23 Feb 1872 Bothwell Lanarkshire Scotland, 6. Robert Lipsey m. Agnes.
Surnames I am looking for are Skelton, Wilson, Farris, Carson, Lipsey, Paterson, Hardie/Hardy, McFarland
Anyone know where there might be a photo of the Miners Rows at Tannochside. My GGrandparents (Lipsey's) lived in Tannochside #71. I see that it might be on Old Glasgow Road, but I'm not sure of that! I also see that there was a single miners row and a double mines row at Tannochside, but I'm not sure what that means and I don't know where #71 would be specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Bess,
Welcome to Talking Scot!![[talkingscot] [talkingscot]](./images/smilies/talkingscot.png)
So Thomas Lipsey was 64 when his first child was born?! Had he been married before? And I thought I had some l-o-n-g generations in my family!
Just realized the eldest child died in 1874, not was born! I'd better clean my glasses...
Are you looking for any particular bit of information, or just hoping to make connections?
All the best,
Sarah

Hi Bess,
If you Google "Old Tannochside" and go to videos you will find four Youtube videos which show photographs of Tannochside.

Hi Andrew,
A warm welcome to Talking Scot! I can't seem to get the results you mention on a google for "Old Tannochside." It says: No videos found for "Old Tannochside" But if you google simply "Tannochside" the videos will be found under "Bygone Tannochside." I assume these are the ones you meant
All the best,

Hello Sarah and Andrew,
Those videos look very interesting. There are some bits and pieces on the Scottish Mining website about Tannochside, including descriptions of the housing there. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&l ... uk&spell=1
All the best,
Alan
