It's a small world!!

Post by caljam371 » Tue May 06, 2008 9:52 am

I have 'long lost' cousins due to my father not managing to get on with his brothers.

My husband has 'long lost' cousins due to family breakups.

Last week I found three of my 'long lost' cousins on social networking site Bebo. To our surprise one of my cousins is the best friend of one of my husbands 'long lost' cousins. We knew they were in the same area but had no idea they were friends.

Technology may be killing the art of letter writing and conversation but it aint half great for finding folk and keeping in touch.

A small world it certainly is! There are many families in your position who lose contact with each other for one reason or another but great when you 'find' them as you did.
A couple of years ago I posted a message on rootsweb, I think, and fairly quickly found out who had written from Canada to my Dad when he was a P.O.W. It was his cousin who was sadly deceased but another relative over there contacted me. It then turned out that I could have found the information from someone I knew and very much closer to home! At that time I hadn't connected the families.
